The Ormuri language

Geography & History Ormuri is a language of a small community of people living in the border area between Afghanistan and Pakistan. In Afghanistan, they inhabit a few villages in the Loghar province; in Pakistan, around the town of Kaniguram. According to the border, the language is divided into two dialects. The majority of Ormuri speakers are bilingual using also Dari or Pashto. The number of Ormuri-speaking people equals to 3,000.
Writing No writing
Close Contacts Ormuri is unified in the single subgroup with Parachi, another dialect spoken in its vicinity. Long contacts with Pashto and Dari have influenced the language greatly.
